Sadly Missed

I’m sorry to have to let the members of our co-op know that Veronica Paton lost her 6 year battle with cancer on tuesday 26th of October.

She had been being nursed here for nearly a week before hand until the last night when we ended up in hospital. From that stage she started to loose consciousness. Later in the day, there was no more struggle for breathe, she just gently slipped away. Peaceful again at last. She will be sadly missed.

There is a public celebration of her life at her sons fathers place, (Brailsford Forest Management) 414 Old Tai Tapu Rd on Saturday 30th from 2.30pm. This is a pot luck get together to reflect Veronicas reputation as the Queen of Potlucks.

Goodbye for now Veronica, enjoy the next stage of your journey.
With love and sadness I thank you for sharing your time with us.
Blessed Be

Seedlings & flower essenses

Hi All,

Hope you are all coping with the after shocks. First light flower essenses have distributed a special “Quake” blend for anyone still feeling a bit shakey or trying to readjust to changes after the earthquake. I have some bottles of these available for koha(donation). Please give me a ring if interested as i’m not leaving them in co-op. As of this moment i have 10 bottles left.

New in this week will be kiwifruit, toilet paper, mushrooms. Papaya and avos are available if you order them.

The other things available are seedlings. She has variety of tomatoes plus lots of other seedlings. Again phone Corinne. Some will be coming in this wednesday but mostly they will need to be ordered.

Heaps of eggs, still good value at $7 doz. Also need to clear the frozen strawberries from the freezer. They are $7 for the kg pack but if you buy 2 or more of them they are only $6.50 each.

Do you want yoghurt? Looking for orders this week.

Well I think thats it for now. Take care everyone

new stock

Hi Folk,
New in are tamarillos red and gold for about $4.40kg. Also new white and wholemeal flour, kumera, purple heart potatoes. Still manderines etc. NZ garlic is more expensive than the american stuff in the shops but so much better, and more environmentaly friendly.
Onions going soft but i wont order anymore at this stage but will try to use up the old sprouting ones. If you find any rotting please remove from the bag and put in the box beside so they can be weighed for waste. Thanks

Also new butter and feta cheese. Remember this is local milk, sensitively farmed but not organic. The butter is available fresh now but will be cut up and frozen on the weekend.

I will order yoghurt again when i have orders in. Same for avos please order if you are coming in to the co-op and want some. After the big wastage from the last box i am only ordering a couple at a time.

New apples will be in next friday, beautiful Braeburn at $1.50kg.

Do others want mushrooms or kiwifruit next week?
Well i think thats it for now. Just a quick check in. Oh the cauliflowers for those that have ordered them have been fantastic! Leeks also good value to order.
Happy eating
Corinne

whoops

Forgot there a few leeks at $1.69 each and eggs have started again. One tray left this week…

New Goods in

Ok, New in is real garlic at $35kg, be in quick this is it till new seasons starts mid summer! Lovely crisp braeburn apples at $1.50kg. There is also new kiwi fruit, manderines (possibly the last for the season) and juicing carrots. We are having issues with fridge space so please get in and put some of this produce in your fridges. I wanted to get mushroom this week too but there is no room!
Also no one is ordering in advance so i am only buying what i can use.
Would really appreciate Anne-Marie if you could ring me (Corinne) to see if a flour pick up from Ashburton can be organised. We are totally out of wholemeal and white is very low.
Well i better go and see what i can do with the fridge.
Cheers

Hi guys,

Very briefly, new braeburn apples in only $1.50 a kg. They are great please get in quick.

Anne-Marie can you phone me please about whenyou are next in Ashburton as we urgently need some flour.

Last chance to order winter cole pears at $1.50 kg but please realise we had over 4kg of waste on the last crate of pears so i’m not sure if the minimum mark up will cover the $10 waste.

Also may order yoghurt this week if people confirm how much they can take in one go.

Must go, should be somewhere else.

Cheers
Corinne

Milk and other news

Hi folks,
AGM went ahead, thanks to those who attended. Sorry haven’t put fresh direct list out to those who wanted it yet. Maybe send me an email directly so i can put you straight into a new co-op list from my email [email protected]
I’ve been sick so its been too hard to try to find my way into blog lists. Maybe next week?
Now, there are still pears left in the co-op so it would be good if the people who ordered the crate could finish these off (or anyone in co-op) so we have fridge space again. If a crate is ordered at the cheaper price then the co-op isn’t ment to cover any losses or have to deal with fridge space ideally.
We also have lots of avos. Would be great if people could buy these and get them into their own fridges to free up space.
Are people interested in braeburn apples at $1.50kg? Also could get some winter cole pears at the same price but need to have the other pears sold first. Have got back in touch with a grower who still has some stock! They only come to town every 2 weeks so please let blog or Corinne know as soon as possible.
Also sourced some real garlic which should be in soon.
Lastly there is some raw milk available for ordering. It is sold as ‘not fit for human consumption. Pet milk’ to get around the legal requirements. In australia they sell it as Cleopatra’s bath milk for the same reason. It is $3 a litre from the co-op or $2.50 per litre for 5 litres. Again ask Corinne if interested as i can direct you to the person organising this. Their delivery day is Saturday.
Well that seem to be it for now. Hope everyone is fit and happy.
Bon appetite

Co-op Changes 11/06/10

Hi All,

Well as most of you have realised the co-op has been moved out to the garage and my teen age son has claimed that room as his own. I have reclaimed my big fridge…Yay.

So.. 3 people have shopped from the garage now and it seems to have worked ok. Some things will need to change though, for instance the yoghurt will need to have a few people wanting to buy it at once and it will be pre-packed as there is no cleaning facilities available.

The key will stay in the same box and the garage has the same alarm code. Just phone Corinne if you want some help the first time.

We need to organise a time to have an AGM. This is a legal requirement as an incorporated society so time to let the group know if you want to confine this to a meeting or to have a potluck to go with it. Day, night or weekend?

Also once again many thanks to Sheryle who this time has taken on our accounts so we don’t need to pay the the account as we still owe them lots of money and we are still a year behind. Thanks to Veronica who did them for the 2 years previously.

Well thats it for now. Lets find a date and format for the AGM. Will be good to have this in June or early July.

Cheers

Corinne
